Other methods of ongoing assessment of the relevancy of the programme include the external examiners’ evaluation and the industrial advisory panel’s assessment. For the external examiners’ evaluation, the most recent evaluation was done by Professor Ir. Dr. Shahrum Abdullah who has visited Materials Engineering Programme on 4th October 2017. Previously, there was a visit from the Professor Dr. Stephen John Bull from Newcastle University, United Kingdom on 4 to 5th April 2016. The Materials Engineering Programme is also seeking the advice from the professional or practicing engineers from the industry via Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP). The most recent evaluation was done by Dr. Low Kin Onn on 11 July 2017.
The PEOs were consistently formulated based on the IIUM mission and KOE mission. The Materials Programme is preparing graduates to achieve the followings in their career and professional accomplishments, within three (3) to five (5) years following graduation. The PEOs are as below;
This Programme Educational Objectives are clearly stated in the official websites of the Kulliyyah of Engineering (http://www.iium.edu.my/engineering/about-us/mission-vision-peos-pos) as well as posted in several strategic locations around the campus. Students are also made aware of the objectives from the beginning of their study during the session with the Dean on the Taaruf (orientation) week. They are also reminded from time to time throughout the duration of study such as in the majoring briefing session.
