1) Fast Track 3+2 with MCUT

What it is

A structured pathway where students complete 3 years at IIUM, then continue in Taiwan with MCUT. The final undergraduate year is designed as a fast-track that can overlap with MSc-level courses in Taiwan.

  • Fast-track structure: 4th-year courses overlap with MSc-level courses.
  • Typical 4th-year workload (MCUT): ~30 credit hours.

2) Dual Degree 2+2 with CGU

What it is

A dual-degree route where students complete the early years at IIUM and then continue the later years in Taiwan with CGU. Students are expected to complete key IIUM requirements before departure, supported by academic advising.

  • CGU: Unicore courses must be completed by the end of 2nd year.
  • Leadership, Family Management, and other Unicore courses must be completed before leaving.

Key Eligibility (Applies to both MCUT & CGU)

  • Minimum CGPA 3.00 before you can go to Taiwan (CGU or MCUT).
  • Course planning support is provided to help you meet departure requirements.

What is the minimum CGPA required?
A minimum CGPA of 3.00 is required.
Are there any additional requirements beyond the advertisement?
No additional conditions at the moment.
Do I need to complete Unicore courses before going to Taiwan?
CGU: by end of 2nd year; MCUT: by end of 3rd year.
Must I finish Free Electives / Leadership / Family Management before departure?
Free electives can be taken in Taiwan; Leadership, Family Management and other Unicore must be completed before leaving.
Do I need to take elective courses at IIUM?
Yes, but you may take them in Taiwan.
Do I need to finish all subjects in 3 years before going?
MCUT: 3 years at IIUM; CGU: 3rd & 4th years in Taiwan.
Is it possible to complete all Kulliyyah credit hours within three years?
Yes, with proper course planning and adjusted study plan if required.
Is the study plan different from normal IIUM Mechanical Engineering students?
Yes, slightly different to meet pre-departure requirements.
Who will help manage my study plan and course registration?
Academic advising and course-registration support are provided.
How does the 4th undergraduate year work with the 1st postgraduate year?
4th-year courses overlap with MSc-level courses (fast-track).
How many credit hours are taken during the 4th year (MCUT)?
About 30 credit hours in the 4th year; 109 credit hours (including EIT) before leaving.
What if I don’t complete the first master’s year in Taiwan?
Passed courses can be transferred back to IIUM; remaining courses continue at IIUM.
Is there any penalty if I fail to complete the master’s degree in Taiwan?

Scholarship for the 2nd master’s year (MCUT) — what are the requirements?
Excellent performance may lead to a full scholarship; otherwise 50% may be offered.
What fees are NOT covered by IIUM?
Visa, passport, medical checkup, and flight ticket are not covered.

Tuition and accommodation in Taiwan are covered; other costs are self-funded.
Will there be a living allowance?
MCUT: NTD 10,000 per semester; CGU: not yet announced.
When will the 2027 batch likely fly to Taiwan?
Around September 2027 (semester start in Taiwan).
What are the selection conditions to go to CGU?
Maintain CGPA 3.00 and complete required courses as planned.
Will we have a graduation ceremony in IIUM?
Yes, you may choose to graduate at IIUM.
