AMSERU Member Invited as Perasmi for the 43rd Annual PIBG Meeting at SK Long Jaafar, Taiping, Perak

We are pleased to share that Ir. Ts. Dr. Suazlan bin Mt Aznam, one of our AMSERU members, was recently invited to officiate (perasmi) the Mesyuarat Agung PIBG Kali Ke-43 di Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Jaafar (SKLJ) — the very school in his hometown where his educational journey began.

This meaningful invitation reflects the deep bond between higher education and the grassroots — a reminder that excellence must always remain connected to community.

💼 True to the spirit of giving back, Dr. Suazlan did not come empty-handed. He brought along promotional materials for the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), including for the Kulliyyah of Engineering and specifically the Materials Engineering Programme, where he serves. It was a humble yet impactful gesture — planting seeds of aspiration among young students and families in his hometown.

💬 In his observation, Dr. Suazlan shared:

“While we at the university thrive for excellence and push the frontiers of innovation, we must not forget the reality on the ground. In suburban schools like SK Long Jaafar, some children still struggle to even attend school. Many remain in kelas pemulihan, working hard to master the basics of membaca, menulis, dan mengira (3M) — a reality that calls upon universities like ours to play a more active role in bridging these gaps through outreach, inspiration, and support.”

🧭 A Note to Students: Knowledge with Purpose (Tawhidic Reflection)

In the worldview of Tawhid, the pursuit of knowledge (‘ilm) is not just for personal gain — it is an amanah, a trust from Allah.

Excellence is not merely an end goal, but a form of servitude — part of fulfilling our role as khalifah. As students of IIUM, our learning must be guided by adab, rahmah, and ikhlas.

As you continue your studies, perhaps ask:
How can this knowledge be of benefit? Who else might grow from what I’ve been given?

May your journey be filled with purpose, humility, and the intention to serve.
