IIUM Strengthens International Research and Academic Ties in Türkiye

15th August – 2nd September 2024 | Kardinez Technical University (KTU) & Gaziantep Islam Science and Technology University (GIBTU), Türkiye

Advisor for AMSERU, Prof. Ir. Dr. Zuraida Binti Ahmad and Prof. Dr. Nurul Fadzlin Bt Hasbullah, both from the Kulliyyah of Engineering, IIUM, participated in the TÜBİTAK Science Fellowship and Grant Programmes Directorate mobility program. The visit aimed at fostering strong international collaborations in research and academia, particularly in the fields of advanced materials, semiconductor electronics, and engineering education.

Highlights of the Program:

🔹 Research Collaborations:

1) Engaged in advanced materials research at Kardinez Technical University (KTU), Trabzon, with a focus on thin-film deposition, semiconductor electronics, and nanotechnology.

2) Visited METAM Central Research Laboratory, exploring collaborative projects on advanced materials for solar cells, energy storage, and industrial applications.

    🔹 Academic Networking & Institutional Partnerships

    1) Met with Rectors and faculty members from KTU and GIBTU to initiate collaborations, including a proposed Training of Trainers (ToT) program aimed at integrating Islamic perspectives in engineering education.

    2) Discussed potential joint research initiatives, exchange programs, and grant opportunities.

    Key Outcomes:

    ✅ MoUs between IIUM and both Turkish institutions are in progress. ✅ Potential collaborative research projects and joint grants applications identified. ✅ Plans for training programs on Islamisation of Engineering Education.

    This engagement strengthens AMSERU’s mission in internationalizing research and innovation, paving the way for holistic advancements in materials science and engineering education.
