AMSERU Strengthens Global Research Collaboration: Ts. Dr. Laila’s Fully Sponsored Research Mobility at Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan

AMSERU continues to make waves on the global research stage! From September 1 to September 30, 2024, Ts. Dr. Laila binti Nor Hairin, an esteemed member of AMSERU and Assistant Professor at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), embarked on a prestigious, fully sponsored Research Mobility Program at the Center for Plasma & Thin Film Technology and the Department of Materials Engineering, Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan.
This highly selective program, hosted by Prof. Sheng-Chi Chen, focused on pioneering advancements in thermoelectric thin films, reinforcing AMSERU’s position as a hub for cutting-edge materials research.
Breaking New Ground in Thin-Film Thermoelectrics
Dr. Laila’s research at Ming Chi University was centered on fabricating high-performance thermoelectric thin films, a crucial component in next-generation energy harvesting technologies. During her research tenure, she worked on state-of-the-art deposition techniques, including:
✅ Spin Coating for Bi₂O₃ thin films – exploring its role in energy conversion efficiency.
✅ Ion Beam-Assisted Evaporation for Sn-doped Zn₄Sb₃, optimizing thin-film structure for enhanced thermoelectric performance.
✅ DC and RF Sputtering for Mg₃Bi₂, Bi₂Te₃, and Aluminum-Doped Zinc Oxide (AZO) – materials with exceptional potential for power generation applications.
Her efforts led to the successful fabrication of p-type and n-type thermoelectric devices using Zn₄Sb₃-Bi₂Te₃ and Zn₄Sb₃-AlZnO, with optimized transport properties to push the boundaries of thermoelectric efficiency.
