Module 2 & 3: AMSERU-Sekolah Setiabudi Program – “Green School Moduleâ€Â
On 17th and 24th November 2021, the 2nd series program with Setiabudi Secondary School (STB) students under Green School Module program, led by Dr. Noorasikin Samat and Dr. Nur Idayu Ayob, has been held at Chemistry Laboratory of STB. This program has been divided into two sessions to limit the number of students for face to face activities following the SOPs outlined by MOE and MKN.
In this programme, the students have been introduced with Module 2: Fabrication of biodegradable plastics from starch led by Sr. Nur’Aishah binti Ahmad Shahrim from AMSERU and Module 3: Making soap from used cooking oil, led by Dr. Maisarah Tajuddin from Green Waste Selangor (GWS). During the demonstrations and workshops, the students were divided into group of 3 and assisted by facilitators from AMSERU members and volunteers from MMESA. In conjunction with these modules, the students had executed the experiments; fabricate the biodegradable plastics and soaps. After the experiments, fun quiz activity was done, and the 4 best results were chosen as the winners.
We do hope all of us will use more the biodegradable plastics and manage well the used cooking oil instead of throwing it. Together we contribute to the sustainability of our environment and planet.
Congratulations to all winners and all students who actively participated the program. See everyone again in the next series!
