The opening ceremony of IEC 2023 took place at Auditorium A, KOE and was officiated by the 9th President of IIUM, Tan Sri Samsudin bin Osman.  After that, the IIUM rector, Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Bin Abdul Razak gave his opening remarks followed by the Dean of Kulliyyah of Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr Sany Izan Ihsan. The honorable IIUM Rector delivered the IEC keynote speech on Engineering Education and Ethics toward a Sustainable Society.

We are honored to have Prof. Nimir Elbashir, the director of Texas A&M’s Engineering Experiment Station Gas and Fuels Research Center (GFRC) as ICCHES keynote speaker. He is currently on a joint appointment as a professor in the Chemical Engineering Program and the Petroleum Engineering Program at Texas A&M University in Qatar. His keynote speech entitled “Decarbonization Technologies for the Natural Gas Processes as the Transition Energy Source” highlighted the implementation of the CARGEN technology which resulted in a 40% reduction in CO2 footprint from Gas to Liquid (GTL) plant.

There are 7 technical parallel sessions for all 36 participants to present their research work. Out of 36 submitted abstracts, 11 of them were presented online. One presenter from each parallel session was selected for the Best Presentation Award and received a certificate of appreciation during the ICCHES 2023 Closing Ceremony. 

It is hoped that ICCHES will serve as an international platform for researchers to share their ideas, experiences, and latest research findings and innovations in various fields of chemical engineering, including bioenergy, materials, bio-chemical engineering, environmental engineering, and bioprocess engineering.
