The conference was officially opened by Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar, the Rector of IIUM, who welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of sustainable engineering in addressing global challenges.
Three distinguished keynote speakers enriched the program with inspiring talks. Prof. Dr. Ma’an Fahmi Rashid Al-Khatib (IIUM) shared insights on “Reimagining Engineering Education for a Sustainable and Values-Driven Future.” Ir. Ts. Hj Mohamed Haniffa Hj Abdul Hamid (Minconsult Advisory Council) highlighted “Water and Wastewater: Research and Industry Needs – What’s Next?” Meanwhile, Dr. Saifudin Abubakar (ExxonMobil Technology & Engineering Company) addressed “Technology Solutions for Energy Transition.”

Over the two-day event, 39 papers were presented, with 18 delivered on-site and 21 presented online, reflecting the diverse contributions from both local and international researchers, such as Algeria, Iran, Iraq, Indonesia, South Korea, and the United States. Additionally, there are 11 non-presenting participants. The technical sessions covered a broad spectrum of themes, including water and environmental engineering, advanced materials, process safety, nanotechnology, renewable energy, food and pharmaceutical engineering, biomass and bioprocessing, as well as artificial intelligence applications in chemical engineering.
The conference concluded with the announcement of the Best Presentation Awards, recognizing excellence across all sessions. The awardees were:

ICCHES 2025 successfully fostered knowledge exchange and collaboration among participants, showcasing innovative solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future. The success of ICCHES 2025 was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee, the insightful contributions of our esteemed keynote speakers and session chairs, and the high-quality research presented by all participants, both online and on-site.
