The history of human is a testament to the work and sacrificed of countless engineers. As we become more and more dependent on technology, engineers become increasingly important.<\/p>\n

The importance of engineers to any society has historically been of a great importance, and that trend is only likely to increase over time. Engineers and their labors are transforming theories into practice for the betterment of all.<\/p>\n

A good engineer is an engineer who has the following skills; teamwork, continuous learning, creativity, problem solving, analytical skills, communication skills, logical thinking, attention to details, mathematical ability and leadership. These vital skills would definitely help an engineer to work efficiently.<\/p>\n

A better engineer is an engineer who is having the previous said qualities, but with additional qualities of a human; empathy, passionate, kind, integrity, courageous and self-aware. An engineer who possesses these traits would be considered as a Sejahtera Engineer. Sejahtera is a colloquial word that means Peace, Harmony, Balance and Sustainable.<\/p>

Therefore, the Sejahtera Engineer in Society (SEIS) Initiatives aim to drive the engineering education forward on the perspectives that need focusing in improving the platforms of engineering education in Malaysia, if not worldwide.<\/p>

The SEIS Initiatives are also aligned with the Falsafah Pendidikan Kebangsaan, which aims to produce holistic graduates; not only equipped with technical knowledge, but also human with balanced and harmonized characteristics.<\/p>

A grave situation has arisen from the Pandemic Covid-19 since the last year, and it is crucial to be addressed since it has totally changed our way of life. This initiative also aims to accommodate the new challenges of the future so that the engineering education can continue to be relevant for the society. <\/p>\n

In 2021, the International Islamic University Malaysia with the purview of Tan Sri Prof. Emeritus Dzulkifli Abdul Razak has published a book titled Sejahtera Academic Framework<\/a>. This book would serve as a blueprint on how to define and plan the future of education at IIUM. This framework highlights that the quality of human, is as equally important to be inculcated in IIUM graduates besides the norm of academic knowledge. <\/p>\n

With the presence of SAF in mind, the Department of Manufacturing and Materials Engineering would like to respond to the University with the SEIS Initiatives. SEIS Initiatives would serve as an extension of SAF, especially into the branch of Engineering Education. <\/p>\n

It is our high hope that these initiatives would change the platform of Engineering Education to a better level, to accommodate the ever-changing challenges that the future has in store for our next generation.<\/p>\n
